Vacancy: Finance Officer

The Australian Embassy in Belgrade invites applications for the position of Finance Officer.

The employment will be in accordance with the Embassy’s Locally Engaged Staff Terms and Conditions.  The position is full-time hours (40 hours per week) Monday to Friday.  It will be offered as a 12 month probationary period contract, with the option to extend subject to satisfactory performance.  The successful applicant will be required to complete a police check and must be eligible to work in Serbia.

Starting salary EUR 27,380 per annum.

Job Description

The Finance Officer reports directly to the Senior Administrative Officer (SAO) and will be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the Embassy.  The successful candidate will be required to lead a small multi-disciplinary team and supervise the workflow of the section.  They must have demonstrated accounting and budget management experience with strong skills in accounting software systems, specifically SAP.  Accounting qualifications would be an advantage.  They will be a well-organised self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a flexible team-player willing to assist in support functions across the Embassy.

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrate your ability and experience in running the day-to-day financial operations of an office.
  2. Demonstrate your ability to understand and apply Australian and Serbian legislation, regulations and guidelines governing the delivery of the accounts, personnel and property services within the Embassy.
  3. Proven experience in computer based financial management programs and packages, in particular of the SAP Financial Management Information System (FMIS), and Microsoft Excel and Word.
  4. Demonstrate your ability to provide accurate and timely results, advice and reports; with a demonstrated ability to set priorities, show initiative, exercise sound judgement, meet tight deadlines and achieve results.
  5. Provide an example of your strong oral and written communication skills, including effective negotiation, liaison and consultation skills.
  6. Provide an example of your strong interpersonal skills and ability to build productive working relationships within the Embassy, as well as with external clients and service providers.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience in an accrual accounting environment and/or professional qualifications in accounting
  • Language skills in Serbian and English.  Candidates will be required to undertake a written English test.
