Vacancy: Receptionist

The Australian Embassy in Belgrade invites applications for the position of Receptionist.

The employment will be in accordance with the Embassy’s Locally Engaged Staff Terms and Conditions.  The position is full-time hours (40 hours per week) Monday to Friday.  It will be offered as a 12 month contract (6 month probation period).  This is a temporary position to cover an employee on maternity leave.  The successful applicant will be required to complete a police check and must be eligible to work in Serbia.

Starting salary EUR 17,096 per annum.

Job Description

The Receptionist reports directly to the Senior Administrative Officer (SAO) and will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the Embassy switchboard and Consular reception.  They will be a well-organised self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a flexible team-player willing to assist in support functions across the Embassy.  They must have strong oral and written communication skills in English and Serbian, and will be required to respond to routine public enquiries.  This position requires strong IT skills, including in Microsoft Word and Excel, and will maintain various databases.

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrate your ability and experience in running the day-to-day switchboard and reception operations of an office.
  2. Provide an example of your strong judgement and communication skills, including effective negotiation, liaison and consultation skills, to resolve a challenging situation or project.
  3. Demonstrate your ability to provide accurate and timely results, advice and reports, with an ability to set priorities, show initiative, exercise sound judgement, meet tight deadlines and achieve results.
  4. Demonstrate your IT skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and other software.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Language skills in Serbian and English.  Candidates will be required to undertake a written English test.
  • Experience in a similar position in a foreign mission or international organisation is an advantage.
